Ring of Kerry Itinerary
Total tour time: 8 hours
Starting your Ring of Kerry tour at Killarney, you’ll enjoy the stunning views of the National Park and the MacGillacuddy Reeks, which boasts Ireland’s highest mountain, Carrauntoohil.
We’ll visit Killorglin famous for its “Puck Fair”, one of Ireland’s oldest fairs, before heading onto the Red Fox Inn and Old Bog Village, a replica village to transport you back to the 1840s.
Next, it’s onto Cathins to watch sheepdogs at work during entertaining daily shows which show off their herding skills.
We’ll head onward to Cahersiveen, the birthplace of 18th Century Irish liberator Daniel O’ Connell. While we’re there, we’ll take a slight detour to see Cahergal Stone Fort, which was built around 500–800 AD.
Should the weather allow it, we’ll board a ferry to Valentia Island to see the dramatic Valentia Slate Quarry and take in some amazing views of the Skellig Islands and Foilhommerum Bay, where the first transatlantic telegraph was sent from.
Over a bridge built in the 1960s, we’ll cross into Portmagee and head to Coomanaspig to bathe in some spectacular views.
Next, it’s onto the Skellig Ring and, of course, the famous Skellig chocolate factory. We’ll travel onwards to Waterville where Charlie Chaplin frequently holidayed with his family. The amazing views will continue as we enter Coomakista.
Then it’s time for the downhill part of our journey to Sneem, across to Molls Gap, Ladies View and Torc Waterfall, before finally returning to Killarney.
Total tour time: 6 hours
Heading off from Killarney, we’ll pass through Aghadoe where you’ll be able to look down upon the beautiful lake surrounding Killarney and its neighbouring mountains.
You’ll have the chance to walk into Parkavonear, a Norman Castle before we head through the small villages of Milltown and Castlemain. This will lead us onto the Dingle Peninsula, passing Inch beach, our first sight of the Atlantic.
We can stop at the South Pole Inn in Annascaul, once owned by Antarctic explorer Thomas Crean. Then it’s onto an eclectic mix of must-see sites, the Celtic Prehistoric Museum, Dunbeg Fort, beehive huts, and the early settlements of Gallurs and Reask, which date back almost 2000 years.
We’ll also see some spectacular views of the Atlantic and enjoy a final stop in Dingle town. Then it’s back to Killarney via the Connor pass.
OR GALWAY TO Killarney
Total tour time: 7–8 hours
Take the coastal route across the River Shannon ( Irelands Longest River) heading North to Cliffs of Moher where some films scenes were shot like Harry Potter & The Half Blood Prince, Princess Bride & Guns of Navarone. Along The Wild Atlantic Way through the Bureen to Galway
